Article 5 RD 9/10/1922 n. 1366, DPR 396/2000, L. 445/2000.
The PRESIDENT DELEGATE OF THE COURT of MILAN has ordered (read provision on sworn translation) that from 10/07/2015 the oath of translations is allowed only to those enrolled in the register of technical consultants of the court.
Legal translation is used in the legal field , for documents in a foreign language addressed to the competent authorities for obtaining: residence permit, notary deeds or other types of contracts.
The aforementioned documents must be submitted to the competent state authority, not in the original but with a document drawn up with a sworn translation.
The Sworn Translation is mandatory to obtain the certificates and documents requested by the user.
Sworn or certified translation is mandatory for:
the validation of deeds and documents drawn up in a foreign language, but presented in Italy. Acts and documents that can be recognized only if translated by an Italian diplomatic authority abroad, or by a sworn translator registered in the register of a court in the Italian national territory.
The sworn translation can be carried out at the Court, the Justice of the Peace or by the Notary.
The presence of the holder of the document is not required.
The translator in charge goes to the appropriate offices, swears that he has faithfully translated the document assigned to him, after having presented himself in front of the Chancellor or Judicial Officer. The sworn statement of the translation is signed by both and concludes the paper file, which consists of the source document and the translation.
Finally, the necessary revenue stamps are affixed and the package is registered in the Register of sworn appraisals.
There is no fixed cost for sworn translation because: the rate depends on the type of document translated, the language combination required and the volume of text to be translated.
In addition , a 16.00 Euro duty stamp must be affixed to every 100 lines of the sworn translation package.
The prices or rates of sworn translations may vary according to the volume, type of document (format and complexity), scope of translation, urgency required, and the number of words or characters.
For this reason, the Bip2 Agency does not have a fixed price list for sworn translations, but we provide flat rate estimates, tailored to each project, applying any discounts and making a definitive price only after examining the complete document.
As a guideline, the unit of measurement for translations in Italy is the folder or word.
1 folder consists of 1375 characters, including spaces, or about 200 words, calculated on the source text for all language combinations. Thus, by way of example, a document of 8000 characters and about 1200 words will consist of 6 folders.
The certification of the translation (i.e. the oath in court) must be counted separately at the translation price.

If legalization or apostille is also required after the sworn translation, our agency is available to perform this service.
A stamp is added to the public prosecutor’s office which legalizes and certifies the signature of the registrar affixed to the oath report.
Depending on the country of destination, the stamp is used:
Apostille of The Hague (which is valid for the countries that have joined the Hague Convention),
or Legalization (necessary instead to legalize in a consulate of a country not part of the Hague Convention).
